We are back on wax again with a very special release. It means a great pleasure for us to have one of the pivotal figures of the Madrid underground techno scene on board, Herr Unkle Fon.
Some years ago, Madrid clubscene was formed by conventional clubs in conventional locations with conventional opening and closing times and usually, conventional programming. Manuel Cano then founded Utopía Secret Society and things changed forever for the city’s underground nightlife.
Now as you may have noticed there is no club scene at all, neither conventional nor illegal, sign of the times.
Musically speaking, Manuel started as a guitarist and soon evolved into studio engineer, label owner, club promoter, record shop owner, social agitator … and adventurous character that reflects in his productions all his knowledge of the dancefloor.
A1 is a slow paced broken beat surrounded with smooth textures, soon joined by a repetitive synth line that adds the hypnotic component.
A2 follows with a cosmic approach, continuous percussive and synthetic lines run together on a fast BPM exercise obsessive, linear and mental.
On the flip side, B1 uses dreamy stabs over a relentless groove mixing liquidity with tension.
Closing the release B2 is an almost beatless exercise, just with 909 rimshots, toms and snares spiced with ethereal components.
A timeless futuristic release that can wait on your record bag until things go in better directions.
Volvemos al vinilo con un lanzamiento muy especial. Es un gran placer para nosotros tener a bordo a una de las figuras fundamentales de la escena techno underground madrileña, Herr Unkle Fon.
Hace algunos años, la noche de Madrid estaba formada por clubes convencionales en localizaciones convencionales con horarios de apertura y cierre convencionales y, habitualmente, programación convencional.
Fue entonces cuando Manuel Cano fundó la Sociedad Secreta Utopía y las cosas cambiaron para siempre para la vida nocturna underground de la ciudad.
Ahora, como habrás notado, no hay escena de club en absoluto, ni convencional ni ilegal, signo de los tiempos.
Musicalmente Manuel empezó como guitarrista y pronto se convirtió en ingeniero de estudio, dueño de sello, promotor de discoteca, dueño de una tienda de discos, agitador social… un carácter aventurero que refleja en sus producciones todo su conocimiento de la pista de baile.
A1 es un ritmo quebrado de tempo lento rodeado de texturas suaves, pronto animadopor una línea de sintetizador repetitiva que agrega el componente hipnótico.
A2 sigue con un enfoque cósmico, líneas continuas de percusión y sintéticas que corren juntas en un rápido ejercicio de BPM obsesivo, lineal y mental.
Por otro lado, B1 usa sonidos ensoñadores sobre un groove implacable que mezcla liquidez con tensión.
Cierra el lanzamiento B2, un ejercicio casi sin ritmo, condimentado con sonidos de 909 y componentes etéreos.
Un lanzamiento futurista atemporal que puede esperar en tu bolsa de discos sin envejecer hasta que las cosas vayan en mejores direcciones.
